Australia's Best Car awards for 2008 are upon us again, this year Scott Nargar and Tim Pomroy from NRMA Motoring Research are representing the NRMA at the annual test week in Victoria. Joining them are seven other judges from leading motoring clubs around Australia.
This years testing is underway at the Australian Motoring Research Facility at Anglesea, 20km out from Torquay.
As in previous years, 40 plus finalists representing 12 categories, from small to luxury sports have been assembled for final scrutiny.

Today final judging was carried out on three classes - Large, Prestige and Luxury Sports. Each class had some new entrants and the results are sure to raise a few eyebrows.
Today we worked our way through another 12 vehicles amongst three very hotly contested categories. First off the rank was the Sports Cars under $80,000, next was another very popular category the Mid Size under $28,000 class then finally was the Luxury Car Class.
We are using the purpose built off-road area today to put the three AWD/4WD classes through their paces. The vehicles will get to pass through the water crossing, a steep incline and decline, and a variety of obstacles that will test the articulation and traction of the final twelve aspirants.
Today is the last full day of testing and we saw a very tight contest amongst the People Movers, Mid Sized Cars between $28,000 to $50,000 and Small Cars categories. All three categories have new models challenging for the title so the scores were always going to be close
