NRMA Motorfest 2010

Celebrating 25 years

On a humid Australia Day this year, NRMA Motorfest celebrated 25 years of showcasing some of the best classic and vintage vehicles from around the state and as far as Brisbane. With everything from old combis, classy Jaguars, old fire engines, vintage motorcycles and cars from the speedway, Macquarie and College street had something for every car enthusiast.

Celebrating NRMA's 90 years

Australia Day was also a fitting day to celebrate NRMA's 90th birthday. The top of Martin Place was transformed into a timeline and showcase of NRMA's history. Complete with historical memorabilia including old Open Roads and grille badges, our NRMA Ambassadors were happy to share NRMA's history with those interested.  Electric vehicles and a designer's perspective on a possible future NRMA patrol uniform also featured.  At 12pm in Martin Place, Wendy Machin, President of NRMA Motoring & Services marked the birthday occasion by cutting a 90th birthday cake.

NRMA Member Lounge

The Mint was this year's venue for the NRMA Member Lounge. Giveaways for attendees on the day included a mini NRMA Viewfinder with photos from NRMA's yesteryear.

NRMA Members could also purchase discounted refreshments and the Mint also held a gourmet Aussie BBQ. A penny machine also proved very popular with many NRMA Members making their own commemorative coin.  NRMA Members were encouraged to share their views on NRMA's future in one of our Roadtube booths. Birthday celebrations continued at the Mint with mini blue cupcakes handed out to NRMA Members.

NRMA Village

NRMA's product areas were again out in force and these included - NRMA Membership, NRMA Publishing, NRMA Motorserve, NRMA Safer Driving School, NRMA Mobile Replacement Services, NRMA Motoring Research, the Mobile Member Centre, Thrifty, NRMA Travel and NRMA Holiday Parks. Others included NRMA's Veteran, Vintage & Classic Insurance, CareFlight and there was also the unveiling of the inaugural Classic Car of the Year- a Jaguar XK120.
