Humpback whales very rarely enter Sydney Harbour as they swim past our coast line.
This would happen about a handful of times during any season. Usually they realize quickly that they have gotten off their path and leave after a quick lap or two close to the harbour entrance.
Every once in a blue moon though, whales venture deeper into the harbour and have been seen under the Harbour Bridge going even deeper into Sydney Harbour. For years now Whale Watching Sydney’s resident photographer Jonas Liebschner dreams of the perfect shot of a whale breaching in front of the iconic Opera House.
