Mobile EV Chargers give a boost to stranded motorists

As Australia's EV uptake continues, the number of drivers in need of roadside assistance due to a flat high voltage battery will naturally increase. The NRMA's Mobile EV Chargers are designed to get EVs on the move again.
EVs can also run out of battery, and the jerry can that comes to the rescue for stranded drivers has been upgraded with technology to keep up with the times.
The NRMA has updated its roadside assistance service by equipping its patrol vehicles with Mobile EV Chargers. Currently, the service is available in Sydney and Canberra, but it will soon expand to cover all of NSW.
Our Mobile EV Chargers have a charge rate of 9.6kW and a lithium-ion battery capacity of 4.8kWh, similar to what modern EVs have. They can add around 1km of range to a vehicle every two minutes.
The patrol vehicles with the on-board chargers have a new look, but everything else remains unchanged. This is except for the removal of some regular lead acid car batteries to make space for the charger. The patrol vehicles can still assist with breakdowns of all types of vehicles.
These Mobile EV Chargers are just one aspect of the NRMA's mission to not only encourage Australians to adopt EVs but also to help them keep moving once they have.
