How much does it cost to hire an electric car?
The cost of hiring a car in Sydney comes down to a number of factors including:
- Type of vehicle
- Length of hire
- Upgrades to standard protection
- Any optional extras such as GPS or a baby seat
Be mindful of peak periods, typically between December and February during summer holidays and other school holidays throughout the year, as this is when prices typically increase and vehicles are booked out. We recommend booking in advance to secure your preferred vehicle and lock in a cheaper car rental price, whilst NRMA members can also save with their member benefits.

Can I pick up and drop off my hire car out of hours?
It is possible to pick up or drop off your car after hours, however you will need to make sure your specific SIXT rental location allows it.
Is charging free?
You will receive a RFID card or fob when you pick up your vehicle with SIXT that will give acces to free charging across NRMA Electric and Chargefox chargers. View real-time charger information via the My NRMA app and Chargefox app. You can use other electric vehicle chargers, however please note that only NRMA Electric and Chargefox chargers are covered complemetary with your SIXT rental car.
