The park
Cervantes, a charming fishing village on the Coral Coast, is just over two hours’ drive north of Perth or about 2.5 hours’ drive south of Geraldton. The park is conveniently located in the centre of town and is fronted by a calm white sand beach. Facilities on site include a sparkling swimming pool with shade, modern kitchen and barbecue facilities, a well stocked shop and the popular Seashells Cafe which overlooks the beach. The kids’ activity centre features a pool table, ping pong table and lounge area, and there’s a nature playground to be explored.
The accommodation
Campers are well catered for at the park. There are grass or matted powered sites with water, plus spacious unpowered sites with grass and shade. The park’s recently refurbished villas, which overlook the swimming pool, are comfortable and well equipped with air conditioning, full kitchens, bathrooms and separate toilets plus verandahs with barbecues and dining furniture. The Two Bedroom Villas sleep up to six people while the Three Bedroom Villas accommodate up to eight. A Two Bedroom Accessible Villa with ramp access and a fully accessible interior is also available at no extra cost.
The neighbourhood
The entrance to the Nambung National Park is a 2km drive east of the park and contains one of Australia’s most fascinating landscapes – the Pinnacles Desert and its limestone pillars. Allow a full day to explore this unique location. Cool off at sunset on one of the beaches within walking distance of the park, such as Thirsty Point, or drive a short way to two of the best beaches in Western Australia – Hangover Bay and Kangaroo Point, both of which have picnic facilities, barbecues and toilets on site. The Coral Coast attracts windsurfers and kitesurfers from all over the world, and is a great place to learn both sports. You can hire equipment from Jurien Bay Adventure Tours, which is a 30 minute drive away and also offers stand up paddleboarding lessons and rentals. While you’re in Jurien Bay, check out the marine park, where you can swim with sea lions. Back in Cervantes, visit the only pub in town, Cervantes Bar and Bistro, for ice cold beer and fresh locally sourced seafood.
