9 March 2021: The Australian arm of the luxury Korean carmaker has confirmed specification for the 2021 GV70, its first medium SUV offering, before the model arrives in the coming months.
The Genesis GV70 mid-sized SUV will become the fourth model in the brand's local lineup, joining the G70 medium sedan, G80 large sedan and GV80 large SUV.
The Genesis GV70 will be offered in four trims: the GV70 2.5T, GV70 2.5T AWD, GV70 2.2D AWD and GV70 3.5T AWD Sport.
A 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol four-cylinder develops 224kW/422Nm in GV70 2.5T and 2.5T AWD trims, while, in a first for Genesis, a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel four-cylinder outputting 154kW/441Nm powers the GV70 2.2D AWD. The flagship GV70 3.5T AWD Sport scores a 279kW/530Nm 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged petrol V6.
All variants use an eight-speed automatic transmission, and all utilise all-wheel drive systems except for the rear-wheel drive 2.5T. An electro-magnetic limited slip differential comes fitted between the GV70 3.5T AWD Sport’s rear wheels.
All trims of the new Genesis GV70 cop a range of standard safety features from the Genesis Active Safety Control suite, and eight airbags including a centre-side airbag (to protect passenger-to-passenger collisions in the case of a side impact).
Inside, the GV70 gets a panoramic sunroof, leather-appointed seats and interior trims, a 14.5-inch touchscreen, DAB+ radio, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
A Sport Line package adds new 19-inch wheels and sports brakes, and interior and exterior styling cues. A Luxury package gets additional safety and more wheel options.
How much will the 2021 Genesis GV70 cost?
The Genesis GV70 will be available in Australia in Q2 of 2021, with local pricing to be announced closer to this time.
