Petrol prices are falling across the state and are expected to drop even further leading up to and through the June long weekend.
Average prices for regular unleaded have been falling around a cent a day from a high of 155.4 cents per litre last week.
The current average in Sydney for regular unleaded is 144.4 cents per litre, with prices expected to fall at least another six cents per litre by early next week.
Despite the fact prices are not expected to reach the bottom of the cycle until after the long weekend, there are already a number of bargains to be found across Sydney today. The cheapest price for regular unleaded is currently $135.9 cents per litre.
NRMA Spokesperson Peter Khoury said while prices were falling, Sydney motorists should remain vigilant and keep an eye out for a bargain leading up to and over the long weekend.
“It’s still too easy for motorists to get caught out paying too much for petrol, with the gap between the cheapest and most expensive service station in Sydney currently 24 cents a litre,” Mr Khoury said.
“The NRMA is urging families filling up this long weekend to use the real-time data available through the My NRMA app and their NRMA membership to bag a bargain at the bowser with up to five cents a litre off at selected Ampol stores.”
